Grace Period for Recertification Extended

If you hold an ETCP Certificate that has expired since the pandemic, the ETCP Council has extended a grace period for your application to the end of the year.

However, it would be greatly appreciated if you could submit your recertification application soon. Please read carefully and follow the instructions below to renew your certification.

To recertify, during your five years, you need to have accumulated 40 points. Most of these points will come from professional experience, but 10 points must be from continuing education—attending courses, training technicians, or writing standards.

Here are the steps you need to recertify:

1. Log in and record your work credits. Use recertification form: https://etcp.wufoo.com/forms/etcp-certification-renewal. If you become stuck filling out the online form and are unable to complete it (because the form didn’t work or something was confusing) please email etcp@esta.org or call 212 244-1505 x705 (during regular ET business hours).

2. Renewal Credit Form: https://etcp.wufoo.com/forms/etcp-certified-tech-ed-credit-submission-form/. This form is where you log your continuing education required for recertification renewal. (If your ETCP Recognized trainer uploaded the class attendance information [new since early 2020], you will not need to do this step for that course.)

3. Receive your invoice. When your relevant work history is confirmed and your continuing education verified, you will receive your invoice. There is a $250 fee per recertification for members of: ESTA, AMPTP, CITT/ICTS, IATSE, IAVM, InfoComm International, The Broadway League, TEA, and USITT. The nonmember fee is $300 fee per recertification.

4. Pay your invoice upon receipt. If you have not submitted your recertification application because you are unable to pay now due to the pandemic, but want to continue your certification, please note on your form you are requesting to defer your payment.

As an ETCP certified technician, you are in the top third of your industry. Take the time to complete your forms and renew your certification today—you are worth it! Thank you for prioritizing a safe work environment.

Basic Entertainment Rigging Training

Our online courses are designed to provide participants with the ground-rigging basic knowledge of inspecting rigging gear, load control, rigging procedures, and techniques used in the entertainment industry through lessons, problem-solving workshops, and videos.

If it’s not on the ground then more than likely you will need rigging. Suspending speakers, truss, lighting, video, and scenic equipment in the air is serious business and safety should always be the first order of business.

Arena rigging, theatrical rigging, and tour production rigging require a large playbook of experience to keep things safe and on time. Whether your application is permanent or touring, attention to detail, the proper methods or principles, and first-rate quality equipment are required to ensure all equipment is flown, attached, or suspended correctly.

We offer two modules online. Both modules meet the ESTA Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP) for 3 continuing education units each.

Please visit our website at https://amcands.com/basic-entertainment-rigging-training/ for more info or to sign up for these courses. You can also call us at (941)730-6576

ETC has introduced many training options over the last few months to help our industry continue growing during the pandemic and the subsequent curtailment of in-person classes. While we have long had face-to-face classes that are ETCP Recognized, we have put considerable effort into online learning. We are pleased to announce a collection of ETCP Recognized online courses on our online learning site LearningStage. All ETCP Recognized classes can be found in the Continuing Education and Entertainment Controls categories. Once there, you can select a class to view its full description, length, cost, and how many ETCP renewal credits it is worth.
