Local 476 ETCP Training Program

Earlier in the summer, I.A.T.S.E. Local 476 held an ETCP training session with the Entertainment Electrician Certification test held on May 11, 2018. While always offering extensive training programs to its members, Local 476 Studio Mechanics Training Fund added the ETCP certification training program with the first class and testing held in May, 2014.

The program now includes spring and winter sessions for Entertainment Electrician and Arena Rigging certifications. Theater Rigging and PPDT classes are added as needed with individual training offered to members who’s work schedule conflicts with class attendance. Recent Arena Rigging classes began April 30th, concluding with testing on May 4th. Expert instruction was provided by Recognized ETCP Arena Instructor DonRio McNichols and ETCP Certified Rigger Jim Roorda. Entertainment Electrician classes began May 7th with certification testing on May 11th. Expert instruction for this class was provided by Recognized ETCP Entertainment Electrician trainers Bob Gomez and Mark Hogan with assistance by ETCP Certified Gary Carone.

Popularity of the program continues to grow with record attendance for both classes. No results are yet in but we expect a great test success rate.

Recent sessions were held in conjunction with the opening of our new training facility, allowing for hands on/real world instruction. Thanks to Barbizon Electric, Liteworks, Cineo Lighting, Kinoflo and Cinelease for providing samples of their latest and greatest entertainment lighting fixtures and equipment for additional hands on training.
